Jack De Keyzer’s potent potion of blues/soul and rock n’ roll is like your favourite leather jacket.
It feels great, fits perfect and is vintage cool.
In concert De Keyzer and his killer band have only 2 modes.
Good and Scary Good
On Voodoo Boogie the companion cd to his 2009 Juno winning (American Grammy) album he hits on both modes with ease.
Cover-wise the title track is solid Chicago inspired blues, but De Keyzer’s guitar chops on the cover of Willie Dixon’s You Shook Me and Bob Dylan via Jimi Hendrix All Along The Watchtower offer up astounding feel and technique.
Elsewhere his own Cinderella gets a superb tenor sax solo by Chris Murphy and piano/organ man David McMorrrow trades hot licks with De Keyzer on the dance floor groove of Rock Till We Drop.
Whether you prefer his covers on both cd’s via Marvin Gaye I Heard It Through The Grapevine here, or on The Corktown Sessions with his killer job on Signed Sealed Delivered is all fan based.
The real mojo is that De Keyzer simply killed with his last studio album the excellent Electric Love, while his live show is exciting and all about groove.
De Keyzer’s respect by peers and ever increasing fanbase is genuine and real.
That folks is a win-win!
